马克福音2:1-12记载了一个摊子得医治的故事，他是被四个人抬去见耶稣，但因人多，不得近前，他们就把房顶拆通，从房顶把瘫子放下去房间里。耶稣见他们的信心，就对摊子说：“小子，你的罪赦了。”整本圣经里唯一记载神赦免一个人，是在那人悔改之前。当然，当时宗教领袖、圣经教师都质疑耶稣，因为真的除了上帝之外，无人有赦罪的权柄。耶稣是神，祂当然有赦罪的权柄；然而当祂对那瘫子说赦罪的恩言时，祂是要付出生命的代价，祂即将要为那瘫子的罪、为全人类的罪被钉死在十字架上。祂知道那瘫子需要身体的医治，然而祂更要医治那瘫子的灵魂。
救赎主教会主日崇拜时选了一首诗歌，歌词大意是说：远在我们开口求赦免之前，远在我们犯罪之先，远在我们继续深陷罪中哀叹之前、远在我们会更多犯罪之前，远在我们牵引别人犯罪之前，远在我们的罪成为别人犯罪大门之前，远在我们又再犯罪之前，神是否会赦免我们呢？我惧怕在我生命的最后一缕气息，我会灭亡于岸边。但神您竟然指著自己起誓，在我死亡之时，你的儿子必然会散发荣光，如同祂现在三发荣光一样；因您已经如此做了，让您的儿子为我的罪而死。我不再惧怕。
主啊，远在我开口求赦免之前，你已经为我的罪而死，你已经以你的生命为我的赎罪价。求你让我明白你赦罪恩典有多深！求你使我被你的浩瀚恩典所得着，以至于我能够被你有效恩慈引致真正悔改归向你。阿们！
